The Downriver Community Band (DCB) is a traditional concert band performing works from a wide variety of musical styles and eras. Their music library includes marches, big band, classical, jazz, show tunes, contemporary and original compositions. Founded in 1989, the DCB is an all volunteer wind and percussion ensemble for adult musicians based in the Downriver area. The DCB's mission is to give non-professional adult musicians a dynamic and enriching opportunity to perform, contribute positively to the cultural environment of the Downriver area and provide an opportunity for personal musical expression and growth. The DCB is made up of players from various levels of musicianship. Members come from all walks of life including teachers, professors, scientists, business professionals, students, physicians, contractors, realtors, housewives, and retirees. Throughout the year, the DCB performs concerts at various indoor and outdoor venues. Many of these concerts are FREE to the public and are performed at charity benefits, festivals and other special events. The DCB also performs in the summertime "Concerts in the Park" program in participating Downriver communities.
